 ~Review~

I both liked and disliked this book or should I say the heroin. I love the premise of the story; young woman taking over her father’s company with no real experience. She has to deal with sabotage, death threats, and a rich and sexy alpha male. All things together should make for one hell of a book. However, Eva who by choice is a chef at heart doesn’t really show that side of herself. She mentions it a lot and cooks but you don’t feel her passion for it come across the pages. Clive, her love interest, passion for his chosen profession does come across the pages and you connect with him more. Eva came off as a little flaky to me when it comes to relationships. She says she will trust him and not what the media puts out but as soon as this happens she runs for the hills. Really…?  Say what mean and mean what you say. Put your big girl panties on and handle business. She made me eye roll more than once and yell REALLY?.  She is smart and strong but her trust issues and the way she handle certain situations takes away from the story.
Anyway, I did like the overall story. Clive makes this book worth reading. He is a strong and trusting man that shouldn’t have to deal with a woman with trust issues. However, not ever reader will feel this way and will connect with Eva, I’m sure. Camellia Hart does a great job of building and making the world come a live off the pages. I like her style of writing and I will be grabbing the next book in the series.
This is a 4 star read for me.
